An inhomogeneous contact process model for speciation
We propose the following model on Z for speciation and extinction. A species at site i gives birth to a new species at site j at rate λp(i, j) where i and j are nearest neighbors. A death at site i occurs at rate δi. We show that the existence of a phase transition in λ depends critically on the value of the limit of p(n,n+1) δn .

Let (− k 2)u = −u + q(x)u − k 2 u = δ(x), x ∈ R, ∂u ∂|x| − iku → 0, |x| → ∞. Assume that the potential q(x) is real-valued and compactly supported: q(x) = q(x), q(x) = 0 for |x| ≥ 1, 1 −1 |q|dx < ∞, and that q(x) produces no bound states. Let u(−1, k) and u(1, k) ∀k > 0 be the data. Theorem.Under the above assumptions these data determine q(x) uniquely.
متن کاملAn efficient heuristic algorithm for rectangle-packing problem
Rectangle-packing problem involves many industrial applications, such as shipping, timber cutting, very large scale integration (VLSI) floor planning, and so on. This problem has shown to be NP hard, and many algorithms such as genetic algorithm, simulated annealing and other heuristic algorithms are presented to solve it. Based on the wisdom and experience of human being, an efficient heuristi...
متن کاملPENALTY METHOD FOR UNILATERAL CONTACT PROBLEM WITH COULOMB’S FRICTION FOR LOCKING MATERIAL
In this work, we study a unilateral contact problem with non local friction of Coulombbetween a locking material and a rigid foundation. In the first step , we present the mathematicalmodel for a static process, we establish the variational formulation in the form of a variationalinequality and we prove the existence and uniqueness of the solution. In the second step, usingthe penalty method we...
متن کاملRectangle Transformation Problem
In this paper, we propose the rectangle transformation problem (RTP) and its variants. RTP asks for a transformation by a rectangle partition between two rectangles of the same area. We are interested in the minimum RTP which requires to minimize the partition size. We mainly focus on the strict rectangle transformation problem (SRTP) in which rotation is not allowed in transforming. We show th...
